Johnny Burns and Pier van Tijn are Big Red Button. Johnny befriended Pier on a shoot by sticking bits of tape on his back with transcriptions of Michael Jackson noises written on them. They decided to mix their love of music, cartoons, suffering, sock puppets and absurd humour to make original and quirky short films and music promos.
The duo’s short ‘Remote’, which screened widely at festivals both in the UK and internationally, was represented by the British Council at Cannes.
Other projects include a number of micro-short films, which have reached large audiences through viral internet and mobile phone circulation.
Big Red Button were runners-up in Cobravision 2006 and top ten finalists in the Nokia Shorts competition for three consecutive years.
Equally brilliant with live action and animation, Big Red Button joined Hotspur and Argyle in 2007.
